Decks with treated lumber wear out and show signs of rotting after years of use. With this deck, the stringers were still in good shape, but the deck boards and railings were unsafe due to rotting. I stripped the deck of all railing and deck boards, and installed Trex decking with hidden fasteners. New 4x4 railing posts were installed, sleeved with PVC covers and PVC/aluminum baluster railings installed. New stair stringers had to be cut. Trex and railings installed. The finished product turned out great. The owner installed a gate at the top of the stairs and it became a great play area for their two young children.
