Jumbo Various Color Coturnix (Quail) $10
Monterey, TN
back
We have various different color projects of Coturnix (Japanese Quail) and are thinning down on birds for the summer. They are all lovely and healthy, we just have too many and are keeping only a very minimal number (like 1 or 2) of each color variety over the summer. We have a few jumbo hens (maybe a roo) of each of the following colors:
“EXTENDED BROWN”:
Tibetan
Rosetta
Grau Fee
(We are really heavy on extra Grau Fees at the moment, but also have a few non-Fee available. I could possibly put together 1-2 breeding groups of 4-5 hens and 1 roo.)
“ANDALUSIAN”
This is a feather color dilution appearing when a bird has ONE copy of the gene and makes the bird 99.9% gray/white. (Two copies of the gene are LETHAL; DO NOT PUT ANDALUSIAN HENS WITH AN ANDALUSIAN ROO. They should be combined with another color; half the chicks will be Andalusian and half ‘regular’ (whatever than might be).
“ITALIAN”
Fawn variation of the ‘Pharaoh’ or ‘Wild type’ coloring. Birds are a ‘blonde’ color. Some of my Italians are Sparkly, so that may be present.
“FALB FEE”
This is simply the ‘Pharaoh’ pattern with the FEE gene that makes the bird appear almost gray-scale (in the heterozygous form) or completely gray/white/black (homozygous form)
We also have fabulous lines of Jumbo Browns, aka ‘Pharaoh’ or ‘Wild type’. These birds are 2nd generation of birds obtained directly from Southwest Gamebirds.
The vast majority of our ‘color’ lines (non-Pharaoh) are in the JUMBO size category, i.e. 75% of birds (and their offspring) are 10oz or greater at 10 weeks of age. They normally lay 12-16g eggs.
Mature hens $12 each
Breeding groups 4 hens/1 roo: $50
5 hens/1 roo:$60
We are located between Monterey and Crossville and do meet-ups at the Monterey Shell station (I-40, immediately off the exit ramp at exit 301) or at the Mayland Dollar General (across from the charcoal plant). We will occasionally do meet-ups in Cookeville or Crossville, if we are already in town for other errands.
HOLIDAY NOTE: we are going to be unavailable on Monday, 5/27, and Tuesday, 5/28, for some much-needed family time and birthday/end-of-school celebrations.
You can also find us online at Upper Cumberland Quail Farms and/or contact us through Messenger.
