Do you have a passion to help children in need? Want to be a part of a compassionate, supportive, and dedicated community of people with the same interests? Come join the Court-Appointed Special Advocates for children, (CASA) and find out how much of a difference one person can truly make for the children in your community.
No prior experience required! All training comes free of charge, and will be able to teach you all you need to know to begin helping local children find permanency and a loving, healthy home. Begins March 14th, 2023!
CASA is a county-based child advocacy program whose goal is to speak up inside and outside of court for abused, neglected, and drug-exposed children and help ensure that every child's voice is heard and has an effect on the outcome of their case.
As a case travels through DCS and the juvenile court system, often the needs, wants and wishes of a child are overlooked or not heard due to the sheer amount of other concerns the team has to address, overwhelming DCS caseloads, and the noise of the court proceedings. As a CASA, you can ensure that this doesn't happen and advocate for the best interests of the child themselves. As a court-appointed volunteer you hold the authority of the court as you investigate, interview, and get to personally know all the details of a case and every individual involved in it.
It is your job to report directly to the local judge and help them make an informed, child-centered judgement that will greatly increase the chances of a positive outcome of the case--be it adoption, reunification, or other result.
If you are interested or even simply intrigued by this amazing volunteer opportunity, contact your local CASA office today and arrange a more in-depth explanation of what this position will require. No prior experience is necessary, and all training comes free of charge and will teach you all you need to know to begin advocating for local kids as soon as you graduate.
Must be 21 or older to apply to be an advocate. Other opportunities are also available if you wish to be involved with this wonderful agency!
Programs are located in Putnam County TN, Smith County TN, Cumberland County TN and Overton County TN. Contact for Overton County TN is listed with this ad.
CASA is a non-profit agency funded in part by a grant contract through the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth.
