Meet Derpy – Your Next Adventure Buddy!
Derpy is a three-year-old male German Shepherd from working lines with a goofy, joyful personality and a huge love for life. He’s social-savvy with other dogs (neutral on first meet, playful with friendly pups, and wonderfully respectful of smaller dogs). With people, he may be initially neutral, but give him a bit of attention and he quickly becomes a devoted, affectionate best friend who loves working with his person. Food- and toy-motivated with excellent focus, Derpy’s legendary tug game is often followed by an over-the-top victory dance that perfectly captures his silly charm.
This high-energy guy thrives with both physical and mental outlets. He’s crate trained, house trained, has a solid off-switch once his energy is spent, and walks nicely on leash with reminders. Derpy is an exceptional swimmer and water play is his primary, joint-friendly exercise (he would happily swim and fetch sticks for hours). Due to elbow dysplasia** and a history of panosteitis, his exercise should remain low-impact (no ball chasing on land), with swimming, forest hikes, and nose work being ideal. His adoption even includes a free Intro to Nosework class with Nozy Dogs!
Derpy would do best in a very active home, ideally with another playful dog and children past the toddler stage. Bright, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining, Derpy is ready to be your loyal adventure partner.
