Dog Breed Border Collie
This is Buddy. He showed up several months ago. I never was able to find his family. I need to re-home him. He has some issues. Please text me if you would like more information.

If anyone recognizes him please let his family know to contact me.

Resource guarding to other dogs, not humans. Not particularly fond of young children. Very intelligent. I don't have the time for him he deserves. I would like him to go to a good home that is better fit for him. He is highly responsive to training I just don't have the time. This was a very difficult decision for me and posting this as really hurts my heart but I know it is what is best for all involved. I didn't ask for Buddy to show up, but nonetheless he did, and I will do my best to help him along his way.

**This is the ad I've written up for him and posted in various places hoping to find his family or a new one****

I am in in Middle Tennessee. Earlier this summer, right around Bonaroo, this dog showed up on my property and was terrified. He smelled like a skunk and was absolutely frantic. I figured he would find his way but a few days later he was back. He is quite large and slightly intimidating with those eyes so I wasn't too keen on taking him in but we did. I was never able to locate his previous family. Which I am certain he had one.

This is "Buddy". He had a collar, no tag. He is neutered. He appears to be border Collie, possibly a mix? He is house broken (came this way) and crate trained (I crate trained him). I have worked with him on proper leash manners but he still needs work. He knows sit and stay but needs polishing. Very high prey drive. Buddy is sound sensitive - planes, loud vehicles, storms, gunshots. Loves to hunt rodents and small game. I have a chicken farm and he hunts those too, but I do believe if someone had the time to work with him he could be broke of that. He is highly responsive to training. I just have too much going on and don't have the time. I want to be very clear and transparent about this dog. He hasn't actually done anything to my kid but behind a kennel or fence he acts quite ferociously towards small kids. I'm sure it could be corrected, I just don't have the time. It all seems to be fear based. I also have no clue what his history is he showed up here grown. I suspect he is probably about two years old. Could be slightly younger or older. His teeth look really good though. I absolutely adore this dog and have fallen in love with him. I really hate to see him go but I have kids that deserve a home they feel completely safe in. I know it is the best thing for everyone that he find a home that he fits in better at. He needs a job. I started working on teaching him down and directional changes for herding and I'm sure he would do fantastic at it if someone continues the training. He also has resource guarding issues with other dogs. Not humans. He is so loving and always wants cuddles from me. Tends to like females a little more but he does fine with men too. Also have worked on some "out" and "drop it" commands with him. And he knows what "Look" or "Watch it" means. I do not trust him around my cats. He has played with my other dogs but I do not allow that unsupervised. I say all of this because I truly want what is best for Buddy and not being completely transparent about him is only a disservice to him. Whoever takes him needs to know exactly what they are getting into with him. If I had the time like I wish I did, we would keep him and work with him because I know underneath all of this a fantastic companion is in there.

If anyone is possibly interested please PM me so we can discuss your set up and lifestyle. I just want him to go somewhere that he is loved and able to live the life he deserves.
